North-west Mauritania, east of Nouâdhibou

Tasiast Suite

Intrusive granites and uranium mineralisation

Geological setting

  • Intrusive suite cutting the Reguibat Shield basement, dominated by granites and granodiorites.
  • Intense fracturing favouring fluid circulation and uranium remobilisation.
  • Carnotite formation in weathered near-surface levels and open fractures.
  • Well-expressed airborne radiometric anomalies, readily recognised on the ground.

Target mineralisation

  • Primary and secondary uranium (U3O8), with carnotite in the weathering zone
  • Associated Group 4 radioactive elements
  • Copper occurrences and accessory minerals linked to the intrusions
  • Gold in neighbouring host formations

Our activity

The Tiferchai area, roughly 130 km east of Nouâdhibou, concentrates our most intensive campaigns: detailed trenching, inclined RC drilling and assaying under a QA/QC plan, with a notable intersection of 431 ppm U3O8 over 13 metres from surface.
